How do I get certified?

Detailed instructions for applying to sit for the CACP exam are provided in the CACP Candidate Handbook are are summarized below:

  1. Download the CACP Candidate Handbook
  2. Review eligibility criteria (Note: US license requirement cannot be waived)
  3. Choose an exam date from the list of available dates posted on the NCBAP website (see below) and ensure that an approved testing center can accomodate you on your desired exam date
  4. Submit online application and fee by deadline posted on NCBAP website (see below)
  5. If approved, sit for the exam at approved testing center on scheduled testing date
  6. Achieve passing score (80% or better) on examination
  7. Credential valid for 5 year period

Upcoming CACP Exam Dates

The first online CACP exam has been scheduled for 7/12/2010. The NCBAP is now accepting applications for exam dates in 2010.

CACP exam dates for 2010 are provided in the table below. You must begin your exam during the time specified, and you are given 2.5 hours to complete the exam once you begin. ALL TIMES LISTED ARE PACIFIC TIME.

Approved Testing Centers

The CACP exam may be taken at any testing center that belongs to the National College Testing Association. You may find location and contact information for approved testing centers at www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/find.php. Although you may take your exam at any approved site, the NCBAP does not have prior arrangements made with each site. It is your responsibility to contact your desired exam site and verify that the site (1) can accommodate an online exam at a PC with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher and (2) can proctor your 2.5 hour exam on the date(s) and time(s) you are considering. Upon approval of your application, the NCBAP will send an email to your exam site with additional details about proctoring your exam. Additionally, any fees charged by the testing center are the responsibility of the applicant and are in addition to the application and exam fee charged by the NCBAP. Note that these testing centers are third-party testing centers and are not affiliated with the NCBAP. Please refer to the CACP Candidate Handbook for additional details.

If you are unable to find a location that is convenient for you and would like to request that approval be granted for a specific exam site, you must submit your request in writing to info@ncbap.org.
